Severe weather & alerts

How should I prepare for severe weather?

Make a plan before severe weather arrives: identify your shelter (interior room on lowest floor for tornadoes, AC space for heat, etc.), set up alert channels (weather radio, phone notifications), assemble emergency supplies (flashlight, first aid, phone charger, water, important documents), and practice the plan during calm weather. Have redundant ways to receive warnings (not just your phone — use a weather radio too). Know the difference between watches and warnings so you can act appropriately when they arrive. A plan made on a clear day means you move decisively when a warning is issued, instead of freezing to decide what to do.
